Show you care this festive season
Brighter Futures is here to inspire and enable you to show you care and give, all year round. But if there were one time of year when giving meant more, it would be the festive season. Which is why, for the month of December, we’ll be featuring all the ways you can show you care and give this festive season.
Show you care by giving your time. Charities always need more volunteers during the festive season. Whether it’s to wrap presents for a gold coin donation, sort through donated items and prepare them for distribution, or spend time with someone who’s experiencing loneliness. Did you know all Suncorp employees are entitled to one paid volunteer day each financial year and you can volunteer for any registered charity?
Show you care by giving things. There are so many items that are needed during the festive season including non-perishable food, toiletries, blankets and sleeping bags, and children’s toys. If you have a favourite charity collecting items, you can coordinate a collection at our work site and encourage your team to contribute items.
Show you care by giving money. During the festive season, Australian employees can make a one-off donation or set up regular donations to their favourite charity using Payroll Giving. Your donation is taken before tax (offering an immediate tax benefit) and 100% of your donation reaches the charity. You can choose from more than 1,000 charities or specific Christmas appeals.
New Zealand employees can make a one-off donation directly to their favourite charity.
If you’re looking for gift ideas for that hard-to-buy-for person in your life, why not make a donation on their behalf?
This festive season, in addition to matching our people’s fundraising, we’re matching your donations up to $500 per employee.
If you’re in Australia, make a donation through Payroll Giving in the month of December and Brighter Futures will match it, dollar for dollar.
If you haven’t used Payroll Giving before, you will need to register and set up your donation by 27 November. This will ensure your donation is made when you get paid on 6 December. If you miss the first cut-off date, the second cut-off date is 11 December (for the pay you receive on 20 December). If you already use Payroll Giving and have a regular donation set up, your donations will be matched automatically on 6 and 20 December.
If you’re in New Zealand, make a donation direct to the charity, obtain a receipt and email this to email@example.com no later than 21 December 2017. We will endeavour to match all donations by 22 December.
More ideas will be added to these pages as more charities promote their Christmas appeals.
If your favourite charity isn’t listed on these pages, you can still show them you care festive season. The charities, appeals and opportunities listed on these pages are just ideas for those looking for a little festive inspiration.
