Running for those who can't
Paul Muir. Risk and Legal, sydney
"I have met many wonderful people at Wheelchair Sports NSW and their stories provide me with the resilience and motivation to persevere."
In July, Paul Muir from Risk, not only ran his eighth marathon for charity, he ran it in some of the most challenging conditions – the Australian outback. Since 2014, Paul has ran eight marathons and ten half-marathons, raising more than $50,000 for Wheelchair Sports NSW.
Why, you ask? Following a traumatic accident, Paul was inspired by fellow Suncorp employee and wheelchair rugby paralympian, Ryley Batt, to regain his quality of life.
“I am not a typical marathon runner. Every marathon, I find myself at the back of the pack, struggling against pain. However, I have met many wonderful people at Wheelchair Sports NSW and their stories provide me with the resilience and motivation to persevere,” said Paul.
Each year Paul has raised money for Wheelchair Sports NSW, he has received Dollar Matching from Brighter Futures to boost his efforts.
Paul plans to continue running marathons to raise money for Wheelchair Sports NSW. If you’d like to support his efforts, visit https://run.gofundraise.com.au/page/PaulMuir0
